David Teesdale was born in 1985 to a mixed family in Upstate, NY. That is, a Catholic Union Democrat and a Southern Baptist Republican. Teesdale grew up smack dab in the middle of the liberal beast that is the northeast, witnessing first hand its failings; crumbling infrastructure, a structurally and operationally deteriorating education system, and an ever more invasive social welfare state which drove young talent from NY by the hundreds of thousands—and left those behind over-taxed, under-employed, and over-regulated. Even still, he was sheltered from this influence in that his sleepy, quaint hometown which seemed somewhat insulated from the competing influences of New England and New York City.
Thus, David was raised with a front seat viewing of the cultural war taking place in America today—one which pits paradigms of conservatism and liberalism in a no-holds barred fight to the death. Blessed with a view of what is truly important: faith, family, friends and holding true to what works. And charged with a passion for making a difference in a world of injustices. David graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Interning for a short time in the Belt Way in 2006 under Karl Rove in White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, David’s passion for using politics as a vehicle to change things for the better intensified.
In Washington, D.C., Teesdale met his wife, Katie, and the two were married in 2007. Teesdale has worked since 2007 as a special investigator retained by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, and the Teesdales live in Knoxville, TN, the very buckle of the Bible Belt. Hopping from one belt to another has been a shock, and Teesdale’s exile as a yankee in a thoroughly red-state gives him a superior understanding of the differences and the challenges faced by Americans in the culture war.
Influenced greatly by conservative thinkers such as Thomas Sowell, Alexander Hamilton, and Edmund Burke, Teesdale’s writing attempts to encompass a staunch conservatism socially, fiscally, and philosophically, matching his fierce certainty with a biting, often sassy, style. We hope you enjoy his ramblings.
